Timber Doorsets, Nature’s Masterpiece!
Internal timber doorsets are a popular choice for commercial projects in the UK, with the ever-increasing environmental issues. Choosing timber doorsets from a supplier who sources their timber sustainably is a very positive move forward.
Timber is a natural insulator, saving money on energy bills, but that really is just the beginning of a range of amazing benefits! Timber doors offer a high-end grand feel. They are easily repairable and not to mention incredibly durable.
There are 2 main types of timber door: solid wood & engineered wood.
- Solid wood doors are made from a single piece of wood, or several pieces of the same variety of wood glued together to make a continuous, solid construction.
- Engineered wood has an outer layer and an inner layer. The outer layer (or veneer) is made of a more expensive and attractive piece of wood while the inner layer is formed of cheaper woods.
The greatest benefit of a timber doorset is how it looks! Wood is an extremely versatile material and they come in a much wider design range than their glass and metal opponents. The appeal of timber goes much further than looks and we challenge you to find another door material that looks, smells or feels as good!
Timber doors versatility means they can be tailored in size, wood type and design, specifically to your project needs. Light wood, dark wood, painted, tight grain, wide grain, intricate design work, the opportunities are endless.
But sorry timber, now for the disadvantages….
Timber doors sit at the luxury end of the market, bespoke, solid wood designs can come in costly.
If your project requires the door to have a specific function for example, high security, then Steel is the better material for the job. Steels doors can also obtain a much higher fire & acoustic rating than timber, so if this is required in the specification of a project, steel doors are your best option. They can still be designed to look aesthetically pleasing and fit in with a rooms décor.
